Nice picture, Bornshooter. :) The bird is not as sexy as the girls from Glasgow, but it is still good to look at. ::) Gave me something for the head... ??? Now that you have a 300mm F2.8 could make pictures of a show even away from the stage, right? Could you make some pictures of "Jonna Löfgren," drummer of the band Glasvegas. I'm a big fan of the band, and I feel a thing for womens who wear glasses and play drums. :-*

Congrats on the purchase. You should check out the link below on setting things up for birds in flight (whilst it's for the 5D3, I guess the 1DX will allow identical settings). The tip on having a home focus point linked to the rear AF button and another region dealt with by the main shutter button is genius.

I'll give things about 10mths before you decide you need more reach (unaided by a TC). Start saving now!

I thought shooting the drummer in the back of the stage would need a 300mm lens. Do you have pictures of Jonna Löfgren playing with Glasvegas, with 85mm lens? Then you went on stage, and this is even better. :D Where I could see your photos from Glasvegas? Thanks, Bornshooter.

a few from a recent basketball tournament

1dx and 24-70 2.8ii   all shot at roughly 3200 ISO

Looks like a lot of fun to photograph.  Hopefully nobody landed on top of you.  ;) Nice shots!

Thanks wildlife!  Yes, basketball is a fun sport to shoot because there are no helmets in the way and you can get very close to the action.
