I live in Nevada, just south of Carson City.

Those particular horses are "just down the road" to the east of me in the Pine Nut Mountains, about 10 minutes from my house. The shot of the colt nursing is looking west and the mountains in the background are the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The bear cub is from Lake Tahoe on the California side which is about 40 minutes away.

To all,

Testing my new 600mm f/4L EF IS II USM in the community park.  I haven't had time to micro-adjust it to the 1Dx yet.  While looking around for things to photography, I discovered this squirrel in a maple tree.  The fall colors are peaking now so it made a good backdrop.  These were all hand-held.

I can't seem to get anything this sharp out of my 5D3-hmmm.
Plus your colors are great.

The compositions are wonderful too.  Great job.

Earlier on when I got my 5D3 first, may shots were not sharp. Some were due to not doing the AFMA and others were due to camera shake. I have doubled the shutter speed since and that helps. Also body sway while shooting wide open can mess things up so I shoot AI Servo many times.

I was out yesterday. Here's a shot of the bear cubs I've been following. 1D X, 500mm L II: ISO 1600, f5.6 @ 1/125 sec.

That's actually important.  I even noticed a difference from 1/1600s to 1/5000s during football games using a 400 f/2.8 lens with IS OFF.  I was surprised there was a difference when shooting that fast anyways, but there is.

Yes, and even for non sports shooting the 1/focal length formula seems to be grossly inadequate. I use 1/2*focal distance... And this is with IS on!
