1dx
300 2.8 IS

Shot at f4...1/1250.  I will say that this combo has been magical for me....stunning IQ.  I can only imagine how good the 300 2.8 II would be.

I've settled in on case 1 servo AF as my "go to" case.  I've tried all the different "cases" and have found case 1 to be "old reliable" as compared to the others.

Lacrosse is new for me...1dx nailed it as usual.

1Dx 70-200f/2.8 II, Shot @ f/8 & 1/250th ISO200

Nice shots eml

curious, do these kids have to worry about snakes or gators in a river like that?  Probably a dumb question but the thought came to mind.

Hi Northstar, in Java there's no really poisonous snakes & no Gators, but the river itself is used at this village level, for bathing, toilet, washing clothes etc, the river runs clear directly from the mountains behind us, but downstream anywhere would have to be a health hazard for anyone that doesn't have the build up of immunity that doing this from birth brings. When your shooting in places like this you need to be aware of villagers bathing, I always ask permission to shoot around the area & I never shoot people in personal situations, bathing etc, these are very much your basic village Indonesian, Beautiful people.

Thanks Guys, it was a step change for me, usually I'm shooting stuff with Big Teeth and a Bad Attitude, it was great to shoot without having to look over my shoulder, well, except after a while these Kids thought it might be good fun for the photographer to get wet as well, thank you Canon for the 1Dx & weather proofing.

Eml....these are great images, so much so that I saved and tweaked one of them and reposted the tweak.   Again, very nice shots.

Hi Northstar, like it as well, I try to give some idea of the area, what I was trying to do as well was get the far distant "Mist" into the shot, it was interesting in that the chap I was shooting with was using a 5DMK II & a Tamron Lens, same settings but he was getting a load more of that Misty effect in the background, we put it down mostly to quality of Glass, my Canon L glass was just cutting through the haze, better colour & contrast, his less quality Glass was picking it all up, but interestingly some of his shots simply looked better because of it, next time I'll bring along some non L Glass & try it again.

Nice shot bdunbar79, this is a Lady that obviously runs with purpose, I might have tried this with the 600f/4, safer.

Again, nothing like what you guys are posting, but I'm just enjoying the AF performance of the 1DX/70-200 f/2.8L II IS performance.  Auto ISO with CWA on the 1DX nailed the exposure pretty close too.  This is a Tiffin pole vaulter at the GLIAC Outdoor T&F Championships on Thursday.  1DX, 70-200 f/2.8L II IS at 95mm, 1/5000s, f/3.2, ISO 100.
Lovely picture.
Question: did his right arm go clockwise or counterclockwise?

Thanks.  It was always below his face, but upon pushoff, it went counterclockwise up and around.
It was not about the face. If he did not go counter clockwise the pole might have fallen on the bar. It seems inclined towards the bar...

I moved quickly :)

At rpt, yes I agree, the pole I've seen cause pole vaulters to foul, good point.
