Some recent images.  I just love shooting with the 1DX with its 12 fps and high ISO capability that enables capture of images not possible just a few years ago.

Shot details
Bufflehead: 1/5000, 840 mm, ISO 1,000
Gadwall: 1/1600, 280 mm, ISO 1,250
Pintail: 1/2500, 135 mm, ISO 400
Duckling: 1/2500, 840 mm, ISO 5,000

The adult and baby Grebes have been putting on a great show for the last week.  They have so much character and the adults are exceeding patient with the young ones they are trying to feed.

I also like taking photographs of birds in flight, especially take offs.

Shot details:
Grebe 3806, 1/2000, 840 mm, ISO 1,600
Grebe 6459, 1/3200, 840 mm, ISO 4,000
Wood Duck 9435, 1/6400, 280 mm, ISO 1,600
Wood Duck 0201, 1/1600, 280 mm, ISO 1,250

Lacrosse

heavy clouds

1dx paired w/ 300mm 2.8 is
if memory serves:
1/1000
iso 400
f4
servo case #1

Great shots and perfect timing, Northstar!  The colors out of your 1DX/300 combo are so vivid!  I so want the 300 f/2.8!  I wonder how long I can hold off getting one when I see shots like yours!

Been a little bored lately, waiting to head off on some Image Taking work rather than some Image reviewing work, so working on the B&W look, well, almost B&W Look.

1Dx 400f/2.8 L IS Version 2, Shot @ f/4 & 1/5000th ISO 800

Yeah, a sitting Cheetah & I shot it @ 1/5000th, guess i was expecting him to break into full swing at any moment, in fact, he didn't of all the Cheetahs to run across, we found the Lazy sucker.

Beautiful!  Agreed...so much better being behind a camera than in front of a monitor!  :)

Stunning and razor sharp shots, Sharp Shot!  :)  1 and 3 blew me away!  Your lens collection is outstanding!  I'm guessing you shot 1 with a 600 + 1.4TC and 2 with a 200 + 1.4TC?  May I ask which AF expansion points you used for 1 and 3.  The new AF on the 1DX/5D3 is out of this world...both 1 and 3 showcase this...the AF never misses a beat!  Thanks for sharing!

Same comments as my previous post.  Wonderful captures!  Again, IMO, 2 and 4 showcase the AF performance on these new breed of Canon high-end DSLRs.  What were your expansion points on 2 and 4?  Thanks for sharing!
