Hi RPT, Thanks, your right, i became fascinated with trying to get a direct on shot of these Big Birds coming into a Kill, harder than I thought as you had to get upwind of the Kill, but not too close that the Lapid Faces wouldn't Land, the smaller Vultures didn't care, but the Big Lapid Face had a larger personal space.

Attached Female Lion in the early morning Glow, Tanzania near the Mara River.

1Dx 400f/2.8 +1.4x, Shot @ 560mm f/4 & 1/320th ISO320

Number One does it for me, great stuff.

3 weeks away, 2 weeks left, the only "Eyes" I've seen that compare are these, maybe a little scarier.

eml58, shooting BIF, is definitely different...but you did a great job on the Lappet-Faced Vulture & African ground Hornbill.
The Sunrise Glow - female lion image, what can I say...brilliant...love the colour.

Question: I see you used the 400 f/2.8 instead of the 200-400mm.  Is that because of the low light? Do you really see a difference, better bokeh/DOF with the 400 2.8 vs 200-400, now that you've had a chance to shoot some real world comparisons? I did read the thread 400 2.8 vs 200-400.

P.s thanks for the info re-AF cases! My 1DX is at Canon re- product advisory.

1DX 300 f2.8 +2x, shot 600mm f/9 @ 1/1250

Thanks

Color looks fine.  Its very warm toned likely due to sun angle but I wouldnt call that bad color.  I often find the jpg recompression on these forums are not all that great.

Thanks East Wind Photography, rpt, expatinasia, I mainly edit for print, wasn't sure if one of the colour management settings was wrong.
