I reckon getting a shot like that is about the only thing that would make getting so close to a rhino worth it.  Further if there was an insect that could sting through a rhino's hide, you can be (very) sure I'd be highly mobile in the other direction!  :o

Your right, which is why I added the 1.4x so I could shoot with a little breathing room, for me, not the Rhino.

Hi Eldar, Masai Mara on the Kenyan side & The Serengeti on the Tanzania side aren't Leopard Country as much as other areas (But the absolute best for The Migration), having said that I did see a couple Leopards in Tanzania last trip in the Serengeti.

For straight up Leopards the best area I've found is Londolozi & Mala Mala in northern South Africa, Mombo in the Northern part of The Okavango Delta in Botswana is excellent as well.

Good luck on your Leopard spotting & Imaging, my favourite Predator.

Keep an eye on the current Activity in Nairobi, unfortunately it's probably a taste of what's to come.

1DX 400f/2.8, Shot @ f/2.8 & 1/1250th ISO800
WOW! stunning eml,can i ask what software you use for editing?b&w here is stunning :)

Hi Bornshooter, NIK's Silver Effex Pro 2, Started with the attached colour Image in LR5, applied several of the Presets in Silver Effex Pro 2, and made some local adjustments in PS CC around the Head & Eyes.

I bit the bullet and am now working in the Adobe Cloud, other than it seems murky in here, not sure there's any change really from LR4 & CS6, other than my wallets now slimmer.
Thanks for all the info EML i use ps cc and lr5 too but will need to have a look at nik software for sure :)

I was trying to get to Botswana a few years ago, but never made it. I've been wary of Kenya for a few years, both for political reasons and because of how touristy I've heard it has become.

I was trying to get to Botswana a few years ago, but never made it. I've been wary of Kenya for a few years, both for political reasons and because of how touristy I've heard it has become.

I was in the Serengeti (Tanzania) in March, Masai Mara (Kenya) in April, without a doubt the Migration was better viewed on the Serengeti side, quieter, less hectic, less People.

The actual Mara River Crossing is probably better from the Kenyan Side (More Options), but you then have to contend with a lot more vehicles competing for the same spots, it can sometimes spoil the experience.

Now, with the latest ongoing drama in Nairobi, we have Terrorism to contend with, in future I'll work on fly in/fly out same day where Nairobi is concerned, I'de suggest only a matter of time and Dar Es Salam will have the same sorts of issues in this regard.
