Not the usual birds and wildlife, but I've just gone to the 1DX. Some from a gig shot recently:

I am often asked, "what is your favourite Animal to Photograph", Leopards spring always to mind immediately, but when I consider first, I would say Wild Dog, there's just something amazingly intelligent in the way these Animals operate, they look wonderful as well, especially like this, Dawn Light, almost floating @ f/2.8.

1Dx 400f/2.8, Shot @ f/2.8 & 1/640th ISO200

Interesting choice and great picture! The way these animals organize their hunting is quite impressive. I believe they have the highest kill rate/attempt of all African animals (and maybe in the world for all I know).

While not a wild dog, "Dusty's" kill rate is 100%, he's 1 for 1 with snakes.  ;D
Wow! What a picture! How the beep did you manage to capture that one?

thanks, used my 70-200 2.8ii from about 8 feet away and zoomed in a bit....a fun shot!

wow...love those cheetahs!  nice!

edward...did you get a chance to see them at full speed...i imagine they can cover 100 meters in 3-4 seconds...as compared to the world record for humans at 9.6 seconds (roughly)

Yup, lovely capture. How far were you from the cheetah? Would it be about 35 to 40 meters?

Yes, the previous Posted image was shot about 30 metres from the Vehicle.

We were fortunate on this trip to see start to finish 3 Cheetah Kills.

The difficulty is positioning your vehicle, without getting in the way of others, so you see the actual Kill from the best vantage point.

The Image with Mum & Cubs, these Guys were no further than 15 metres from the vehicle when Mum & One Cub noticed a Thompson's Gazelle.

Image in the middle shows Mum full flight, estimate + 80 KPH at this point, from standing start to Kill it was over in 4 seconds, maybe 5.

Final Image shows Thommy, I think he knows at this Point he has about a second of Life Left.

The actual Capture is just a huge pile of dust above the Grass, the drawback to the Serengeti being Tall Grass, it's a bummer for some shots, and distance was around +100 metres when she brought the Gazelle down.

The reaction of the Cubs is amazing, they just sit and watch Mum in action, they make no attempt to get involved in the Kill, we did see another Kill of a very Young Thompson's where the Mother captured it, waited until the Cubs came up, she then released the Kill several times to allow the Cubs to practise captures.

Sorry, no animals ... This is from the Valley of Aurland in Norway. We have lots of beautiful hiking trails to offer. This one in particular has been voted Top-10 hiking trip in Europe. It is a 16 km/10mile walk of immense beauty. From a photography point of view, the challenge is contrasts and thus dynamic range. With this image I have lifted the shades, darkened the highlights and given a slight increase in sharpness and saturation. All colors are as shot, handheld 1DX, 24-105 f4L.

Many thanks, it's quite hard to get really good gig images. I find the 1dx to be the only body that doesn't limit me, now I just have to get better :p
