I was out of the vehicle down on the river bank shooting Elephants crossing the stream about 200 metres down stream, didn't see this Young Bull come around the Bend behind us, he didn't really see us until opposite us, then he just dropped his head & charged us, the chap with me Greg DeToit (He just won Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2013) stood up & raised his arms and yelled at the Young Bull, he eventually stopped about 5 Metres from us and kicked & blew water all over us.

I was shooting on 12fps when he started the charge and tried to auto focus as he closed, about 90% were OOF, mostly I think due to Camera Shake.

The interesting thing was that once I downloaded the images I noted this Guy had one Blue & one Brown eye, didn't notice it at the time.

Shot with 1Dx 200-400f/4, shot @ 200mm f/4 & 1/250th ISO400

Northern South Africa near the Border with Mozambique.

Cool! I can certainly understand the camera shake problem :)

Wow Edward, I just cancelled my reservation to join you on your next safari !

Perhaps he thought your 1Dx with 200-400 was a white trunk'd rival.

Great shot.

Hi Sporgon, Yes, it was one of those moments, the ones where you clearly understand you just may have made a huge mistake, it's what I've come to understand as viewfinder blindness.

Some pretty awesome photos in this forum, and some pretty bad ones as well. As a recent 1DX owner I felt for a longtime my photos where not worthy enough to post in this thread. Until I made this photo of a White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) 4 days ago. Hope you guys like it, I know I do :)
