I took this image on 27th February the night of the Aurora Borealis display in the UK. I had gone out to take night shots of the Monument (1st World War Memorial) with the clear sky above, lighting the moment with an off camera flash to give it a lift. However I got a call on the way up to the monument asking if I could see the Aurora, I could just about. Within minutes it was in full swing, quite early in the evening by our normal displays, around 20.15 it started. The image featured heavily the next day on BBC News, I even got an interview for Reporting Scotland at the monument and it was aired on Friday evening.

Exif: 30sec, F5, ISO1600. Monument illuminated with bursts from a handheld 600EX-RT.

Nice one Gary, very different to what we've come to expect, like it very much.

Reminds of a scene from the Brad Pit Movie "Seven".

I very seldom do any B&W images, and I'm bored so I thought I have a go, I usually throw out my idea of "correct" exposure and stuff when doing b6w, more fun that way.

i use my 1dx to shoot indoor sport without flash all the time...iso 3200-5000 still great IQ.

For your consideration.

So many places to see in India, and I'm yet to see a one, I think I'm held back by the indecision of what to see first, Tigers, Himalayas, Varanassi, the Taj Mahal, Jaipur, Leh, and now, the bare bums in the grass.

Nicely done Sanj.

For your consideration.
There seems to be a certain rush. A crowd of naked men running is somewhat scary to be in the middle of them with an expensive camera. In fact, almost all festivals in India that I have seen (photo and video) appear to involve mud, water, or paints that threaten photographic equipment. Lens Rentals did an article about a festival in India where throws colored brilliant powder on people. It turns out that the powder is so fine that invaded lenses weather sealed, mounted in a camera weather sealed. A spectacular place for sure. But the best thing to do is to know in advance what kind of activity will take place in a specific event you want to shoot.
