Just spent a week in Bali with the Family.

Tried the Otus, this is one difficult Lens to focus, but when you get it done it's pretty good.

Appreciated Gary, I've been travelling quite a bit last 6 months, will be for the next 6 as well, had time to check CR, not a lot for posting Images. My youngest Lad is taking a Gap Year so we are taking advantage of the time & travelling as much as possible.

Have enjoyed your Family Portraits very much, you've got that Strobe lighting down pat (something I'de like to emulate), now you just need to get those Kids to grow wings & feathers.

1Dx Otus 55f/1.4 @ f/2 & 1/125th ISO800

I kept looking in the frame for a leopard or a cheetah!  ;)

Love how that hat "pops" against the background!

How are you focusing that beast? By eye? Or using focus confirmation?

Always thrilled to see your work!

Hi Oldshooter, Well, that's my wife in the Hat, so believe me, she has claws & plenty of attitude.

I have difficulty focussing the Otus with the viewfinder, always seems just a shade off, I just received the "Ec" focus screen so I'll try that in one of the 1Dx bodies & see if it helps.

At the moment I focus with Zoomed view in Live View, so it pretty well ensures The Lens at the moment is used for static subjects, for someone with better eyesight, more familiar with Manual Focus it may not be such as issue. I didn't use the Tripod though, just handheld, live view, zoom to fix focus, then shoot 3 frames.

But it's a lovely Lens that does produce if you have the patience & the right subject matter, Now I've started to use it (sat on the shelf for a month) I tend to reach for it when ever the situation merits, rather than say my Canon 35f/1.4 or the Canon 50f/1.2 L (or the Sigma 35 Art), I like the end result much more on this Lens, but it is a learning curve.

Coupled with the 1Dx it's a handful as well, I was shooting in the Pool & the fact I was 1" above 1.5 metres of salt water pool with a combined $12k was never far from my mind.
