Amazed that canon put a 35mm equivalent lens on this.  Surprised it's only f/2 though, but should be enough to take alot of low light shots.  Will actually teach people how to use a camera too(hopefully)!

And it looks like the flash as AF assist... that's nice. Wondering if that flash can be used on a dSLR?

It's not even glorified. I bet that other manufacturers will deliver at 50$ or less with quality fully satisfying 99% of the users.

price is ridiculous, but no surprise with canon. Compare with Sony Nex 5n at least it support all the speedlites. And since the depth of the camera is 32.3, I can see lots of old manual lenes in use, especially contax G.

+1 shame, could have been awesome! I might get a kit with the adapter instead of the kit lens!

Am I missing something? In concept you get the same IQ w/the APS-C sized sensor.  You get less weight, but still not exactly a feather weight, given size of lens, need to carry external flash.   You have no EVF like many point and shots have.  So why carry around one of these instead of a Rebel???  If the price was much lower, I might get one as a toy, or as a "walking around" camera, but  right now, I'm going to get a Rebel to lighten up when I don't need my D' series.

Nikon sells their Nikon 1 (J1 & V1) to F-mount adapter for $269.97. Canon's price is much lower than I'd expected, and a real bargain compared to Nikon's FT-1

Am I the only one thinking that when Beach/Adorama/B&H start the 'super packages' it's going to be really nice?

The price really isn't that bad considering it's size.

What the....no body-only or 18-55 kit option?  I thought this was targeted at P&S upgraders but virtually none of them are going to want to use a prime, since all P&S cameras except the lowest end and the Sigmas have zoom lenses.

I'd price it at $599 with 18-55IS for P&S upgraders.  As it is, it's $1100 to get one with the 18-55IS, where you can get a T4i (with flash, viewfinder, T/S LCD, better battery life, EF mount, and faster focusing) for $950 with the EF-s 18-55IS!

Decisions, decisions For $1,000.00 I can get a Canon EF-M with 22mm f/2.0 lens and the EF to M lens adapter OR I could get an Olympus OM-D E-M5 without a lens.

The EF-M is lighter, but the E-M5 has an EVF. Both have a good selection of lenses. The E-M5 has 5 axis IBIS and the EF-M doesn't. Decisions, decisions
