Lost Canon XT found in a creek - Memory Card still worked!
« on: August 06, 2012, 07:00:55 PM »
Here's an article about a man that found a Canon XT in a creek and was able to return it to the owner by using the pictures on the memory card.  Three years in the water.  Amazing!

7D would still have worked.  Anybody remember the xt that got dropped from a plane and survived?

Could the XT be canons toughest camera?

These stories are becoming more and more common. Call me cynical if you like, but I am begnning to feel that it is a form of social media marketing. It does seem to be Canon they find on the whole. Maybe Nikon users are more careful with their gear!

Canon must have found a warehouse of old XT's they forgot about then, although I would have thought the first story was more about the robustness of the memory card than the camera.    Call me punctilious if you like....

I agree in a way, and that sort of reinforces my point. What was the brand of the memory card?

Of course everyone on these forums knows just by looking at the picture, but it is not mentioned once in the story. All people will remember is Canon lost, water, pics saved.....

Very clever marketing if it is...
