I have the 35, but I'm curious. Is the 24's AF any faster?

is the AF of 35L slow for you? if yes, then i think nothing else will matter.

Neither are slow.  Shoot sports with the 50L or 85L and you'll see what I mean.  On a serious note, both lenses you question seem to focus very quickly for me.

i own the 24L II and have used the 35L, which i love. they are about the same in af speed, fast (enough).

Their about the same. The 24L II is my lens of choice over the 35L.
