EOS7D - Issue downloading Pics

Have a 7D.....Dell laptop, XP, using Picasa. First time ever I'm getting and error that states....
"An error has occurred while attempting to Import. Either the source is unavailable or the destination is full or read only

I've tried a couple different cables to transfer the pics and again, never had this issue before. Btw...the pics won't transfer to a few other desktops and laptops we have. The pics are about 5-8 Mb in size each and there are 2-3,000. However, I usually can get several hundred onto a laptop and then transfer to my Terabyte server as I've done previously without maxing out the available storage on my laptop.

I'm speculating that I need to off load a bunch of pics in picasa to free up space???

Any thoughts or suggestions??

I would suggest using a card reader. They are just a few euro/dollars and are a fast way to transfer the files instead of attaching the camera.
