I wish the big telephotos would go on sale more often.  Has anyone seen the 400mm 2.8 IS II with rebate yet?

I wonder how long it will take if ever, for the 200-400 to have a rebate.

I've seen the 200/2 IS get a $500 rebate on a few occasions.

I had the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS Telephoto Zoom in my cart at Amazon and the price went from $1463.67 to $1399 - not quite the full $200 rebate.   ;)

I'll be in NYC between the 6th and the 11th of September and I kinda hope that the prices will be as low as possible...

Don't forget, NYC has a sales tax around 8.5%.
That's why when I lived in NYS folks were buying from dealers just over the river in New Jersey and having items shipped to them in NY.

Of course, sales tax only applies if you take the item with you or have it shipped within NY State.  If you go into the store, pay for it, and have it shipped out of the state, you will not pay sales tax (to B&H, that is - most states require you to report out-of-state purchases and pay use tax in your home state, and for overseas shipments, you are responsible for customs duties, import taxes, etc.).  Just sayin'.

Guys, Canon does not have rebates. These "rebates" are completely fake. Its a marketing ploy to try to get the uninformed to pay the same amount of money that they normally would, only they think they are getting a deal. For example, the Canon 70-200 f4 IS USM was selling on Amazon for $1199 a couple weeks ago. Today, after a $150 rebate, it is selling for $1199. Wow, what a great discount! I better buy one quick before they sell out!
