Both B&H and Amazon are selling the 5D mark II at $1979. Does this mean the new entry level FF body is coming soon?

It simply means that it's the previous generation camera, has been replaced by a newer version and Canon would like to clear out old stock.

It means I don't have seller's remorse, because I sold my 5DII before this price drop drives used prices even further down.   ;)

Yup!  But really, the price of a NEW 5DMK2 was cheaper than this months ago.  Then it went up for a little while.  Now coming back down...

It's a great camera regardless and a bargain at this price.

It means they have dropped their prices $20 below what most of the reputable stores have been selling it for... maybe hoping to attract some business.

Law of supply and demand.  The economy is poor, sales are slow, price drops.
This happened last December as Canon sold down inventory at the end of FY2011 in a attempt to increase cash flow and sales figures.

it mean: 5d Mark II is $1979.......... Duh...

Came in here to post this.

That and the obvious one that the MK3 is out.... So the price naturally drops.

The 5d II is a great camera and I can say I do not have any focusing complaints. The number of keepers I get are extraordinary and I shoot a variety of subjects. The IQ is also amazing.

Or conversely, that some people know how to use their camera.  The 5D MK II is one of the most accurately focusing cameras Canon has made, at least for the center point.  I have had two of them, and both have very accurate autofocus.
