CORRUPTED! Firmware Version 1.2.0 for EF 40mm pancake

My camera crashed and I had to reboot with another lens.
This firmware may be corrupted.
Beware!!!!
UPDATE: my lens is gone. It no longer works. It needs the firmware. I am very upset!!!

Trick posted at POTN that saved my pancake:
"Delete all the battery registered info first before updating. I did that and it now works."

Which camera are you using? The firmware is only for T4i, 5D MK III, and 1D X.

Update failed at 62%. 40mm is now a very little, very light paperweight. CPS says to send it in. Dang. I like this little lens!

Which camera are you using? The firmware is only for T4i, 5D MK III, and 1D X.

If it is the wrong camera, you should not see a lens firmware upload option. Unless Cannon did it all wrong.

I use this site almost everyday and find it very useful, especially the announcements and links on firmware updates. I registered so I can report that it was very easy to update the 40mm lens on my 5DMK3, and lens and camera are working just fine.
All I did was verify the firmware version of my camera, copied the firmware file to an SD card (formatted in the camera) and followed the rest of the instructions.
BTW, many thanks to the posters here who provide many informative posts and great advice.
