7D mkII and New FF? - news From India
« on: September 15, 2012, 12:08:48 PM »
Ok...  If i were to give this a rating it would be a CR2...  plausible rumour, but new source...

I picked up a 70-200 IS II (woohoo) from a canon image store in Bangalore...  started chatting the manger about the D600, and asked him what he thought canon would do to counter it...  he said, straight up, the 7D mkII and a new FF will be out soon!

nothing new, but hey, thought i would share! :)

Enjoy (i'm off to have fun with my new lens...)

people are saying because they released a firmware update for the 7d that its not likely they will release a mark II anytime soon, but i hope they are wrong because i want a better crop body then my 550d but i don't really like the idea of upgrading and having the same sensor quality.

I was just in Mumbai, Jyoti Studio and they said the Bangalorians have no clue. No 7D update.
They are however clearing out Mk2 stock for the arrival of the 5Ds.

Smaller form factor, plastic/alloy combo
20MP
98% VF
19 point AF with phase for STM
2 x SD Card
partial weather sealing
Digic 5 not 5+
New battery
ISO 100-12500 Native Expandable to 25600
Will ship with new STM lens

I really hope your speclist is accurate. With such features and AFMA I will buy one and wont hesitate even for a minute....fingers crossed :-)
6D (on the way) | 450D | EF 28 f/1.8 USM | EF 40 f/2.8 STM | EF 85 f/1.8 USM | 430 EX II | wishlist: EF 24-70 f/2.8 L II USM, EF 135 f/2 L

Hmm, so the above spec list is similar to the leaked 6D one, but differs in:

Slightly larger OVF (98% vs 97%)
Better AF (19pts vs 11pts)
Better SD support (2 slots vs 1 slot)

Worse processor (Digic 5 vs Digic 5+)
Worse native ISO (12500 vs 25600)

New information includes new battery and the kit being STM as opposed to the allegedly expensive 24-105 kit. I guess it's more in line with the previous rumors. I too hope this is the true spec list. Unfortunately, the source of the other 'leak' seems more credible, but there is always hope.

probably, people are not wrong...  ::) I think Canon is now focusing to counter the D600...
