It's coming. They felt that the 2007 50MP APS-H sensor is too little, so they made a 120MP version in 2010...
They have also commented a while back that they would enter the medium/large format market if it made sense for them to do so.  50MP and 120MP fall into that category.  I'm skeptical until Canon proves me wrong.

If its a 1D body, being really the replacement for the 1Ds3, then cost will be pretty damn high.

The starting point for medium format digital has fallen a little remember. Get what Im saying? Yes I know the starting point only gets you 22mp or so, but those 22mp used well, will annihilate a D800 for instance. Plus a Phase One will flash sync at 1/1600th second (leaf shutter) or a Hasselblad at 1/800th sec.

It has to be announced this year yet but I doubt it would be medium format. Opening another front with a new set of lenses could be too much even for them. Let them focus on the DSLR frontline
