Hardly a issue for a Rebel User who does not even own a flash.

In that case, I would suggest getting a flash, before upgrading the camera.

Can't agree more, I can't believe such a big deal has been made about this non-issue (for 99% of photographers, and 99.99% of photographers that are in the demographic for which this camera is intended).

I'm in the same boat...  450D is on its last legs and really want to jump to something better...  5D III would be ideal, but lets face it, too expensive for most of us. 6D looks great...  the sync speed isn't so much of an issue for me, and yes i have two flashes, which i use a fair bit! And to be fair 1/200 vs 1/180...  not a vast difference, and for high-speed, use HSS!

The only thing I might miss is the reach of the crop!

For you it sounds like a good move, and the chances are (unless i get a windfall) I'll be following you too!

Whilst I'm comfortable with second hand glass, I'm less comfortable with a second hand camera, especially one as old as the 5D - which is at least 5 years old now - the AF on the 6D is fine for me, the flash sync isn't an issue, nor is the framerate - although I must say I'm tempted with the DigitalRev option of a 5DIII ;-)

Given the recent announcement and the affordable price of a 6D with a 24-105mm kit, I'm starting to seriously consider the full benefits of a move from using a 450D with a 15-85mm to a 6D with the 24-105, specifically in terms of shooting in low light, depth of field and so on...

there are sure enough serious amateurs who want a cheaper FF body that is not 4 year old technology.

people who love to do strobist work but have only APS-C cameras right now because every canon FF is way too expensive for them.

so what is their choice?

a 3000+ euro 5D MK3, a lacking and overpriced 6D .... or a 4 year old 5D MK2.

and for high-speed, use HSS!

i mean honest.. why do people talk about a feature they clearly don´t use or care about and tell others what it is worth?

I use it...  i have it on my 580EX II...  so for me it is not an issue (Which was the point of MY post)! I was not saying how much is it worth, just that it isn't an issue for me... sigh...

A 450D was the first DSLR I owned, the 6D should be an awesome upgrade . If you don't use the flash much on your 450D you can always wait a while and see how you go, you'll be pleasantly surprised at some of the low-light shots you can get away with after being used to a 450D based on my experience with a 5D3, I assume the 6D will be in a similar league in that regard.

Likewise on lenses you might as well grab the 24-105, I believe the kit deal is good enough you can probably sell it for around the same price anyway? Personally since moving to FF I still use my 50 a lot, get much more use of my 70-200 and use a 24-70 less often. But focal lengths and apertures are such a personal thing you might as well just get the kit first and try it all out and worry about buying / selling lenses later, it sounds like your selection of non-EFS lenses will give enough coverage to work out that side of things.

I'm in pretty much the same situation as yourself Haydn1971 although I'm coming from a 500D. There is a couple of things on the 6D that concern me slightly.

1. Top shutter speed, it's no less than what I have at the moment but it would have been nice to have higher, I can understand why it's not though

2. Image quality, I expect it to be real good but I want to see it tested (not DXO) first

3. Handling, I'm not sure how I'll get on with lack of programmable buttons and that wheel on the back

Point 3 is obviously personal so I look forward to it being released.

I would really love a 5D3 though but I'd rather have a 6D and more glass, Spokane's suggestions was making my mouth water! 

What I'm really interested in here though is the comments about Digital Rev, do you really not have to pay tax? I thought they added tax at checkout so price ends up 20% higher (GB) than the advertised price.
Can anyone confirm that this is wrong please?
