Comparison: Tamron 70-210mm f/4 Di VC,Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS II & Nikkor 70-200mm f/4 VR

By Canon Rumors | July 16, 2018 | Canon Reviews

The folks at DPReview have compared the Tamron 70-210mm F4 Di VC, Canon 70-200mm f/4 IS II & Nikkor 70-200mm f/4 VR to figure out if you would be happy with the Tamron offering over the great and more expensive Canon and Nikon branded 70-200 f/4s.

Comparing the EF 70-200mm f/4L IS II to the Tamron 70-210mm f/4 VC was a pretty easy comparison, if you can afford it, the Canon is the much better lens. Interestingly, it wasn’t as cut and dry with Nikon, as the Tamron performed very favourably against the much more expensive OEM lens.

From DPReview:

70-200mm f/4 zoom lenses may not get as much attention as their faster f/2.8 siblings, but for many photographers these lenses hit the perfect sweet spot of price, performance, and weight. This week, Chris and Jordan go to the Calgary Stampede with pro photographer Kyle Marquardt to shoot the Canon 70-200mm f/4, Nikon 70-200mm f/4, and Tamron 70-210mm f/4. Watch the episode to find out what they think.

The Mess That is the Canon Full Frame Mirrorless Rumor Mill

The Mess That is the Canon Full Frame Mirrorless Rumor Mill

By Canon Rumors | July 15, 2018 | Canon Lens Rumors

It hasn’t been since the release of the EOS 5D Mark III that we have seen this many emails and bits of information flood our inbox, and it’s once again, extremely difficult to figure out what is real.

We’re going to backtrack/reset what we think is happening, based on information from trusted sources. For the record, we’re backtracking on things we’ve posted in recent weeks. I don’t like it, but it happens.

We do know that at least one (and likely two) mirrorless cameras have hit certain certification agencies, thanks to Nokishita for always finding those. We do not remember a single time that a certified product didn’t reach market, so rest assured, a full frame mirrorless camera is coming and according to the certification information, it’ll be a full frame 30.4mp camera.

The elephant in the room is when are these cameras coming? We were told by a good source that we’d see an announcement in 2018 and even gave it a [CR3] rating. A couple of other sources I’d consider better have both cautioned me that they don’t think an official announcement for a full frame mirrorless camera coming in 2018 at the time of writing this. Which would be bad news to say the least.

At Least Two Big White Lenses Coming Ahead of Photokina [CR3]

At Least Two Big White Lenses Coming Ahead of Photokina [CR3]

By Canon Rumors | July 15, 2018 | Canon Lens Rumors

We’re told at least two new “big white lenses” are coming ahead of Photokina 2018. We’re not sure at the time of writing this what the new lenses will be.

Will we finally see the EF 600mm f/4 DO IS?

We weren’t expecting new big white lenses until 2019, but we may be getting a year long rollout of updated supertelephoto lenses. Optically, I’m not sure how these lenses can get much better, but they could certainly use some weight reduction in light of Nikon and Sony’s lighter offerings with certain supertelephoto lenses.

More to come…
