There are various reports of Canon making announcements on January 7, 2014 and new one talking about a press conference in Hong Kong on January 9, 2014.
CES 2014 begins on January 7, 2014 and we expect new PowerShot cameras, such as the replacement to the SX50 IS. The speculation about January 9, 2014 is a bit odd, as the invites are only for Hong Kong. The last 2 Asia based announcements turned out to be a white SL1 and the EOS M2, so I’m not expecting too much at this time. Canon not announcing something for CES itself, but announcing it on the second last day of CES on the other side of the planet, now that would be a first.
Until we see press invites for other countries outside of Hong Kong, I wouldn’t get too excited about the January 9, 2014 speculation.

From the Netherlands
The Dutch web site EOSzine.nl posted on Twitter that they’ve been invited to a Canon press event on Friday, May 31, 2013.
I have yet to see any media invites from around the globe as of yet. This could be an event for only the Netherlands.

Invites for the July 23, 2012 product announcement date seem to be making their way around to folks.
It’s suspected this is when we will see the announcement of Canon’s first mirrorless interchangeable lens camera. We may finally get the official announcement for the EF 200-400 f/4L IS 1.4x lens as well.
We received the first mention of the next Canon product announcement date. I’m told the date is pretty solid, but as always, Canon can move things around at the last minute.
It’s expected we’ll see a new mirrorless system announced as well as a few lenses. We probably won’t see new full sized EOS cameras or PowerShots announced until August or September.
I upgraded the announcement date to [CR3]. The specs I’ll leave at [CR2], I haven’t heard a confirmation of the short list below.
New Rebel this week?
It appears June 8, 2012 may be the announcement date for the new Canon EOS T4i/650D. I am told the NDA’s lift that day. Friday seems to be the new favoured day of the week for Canon announcements. I didn’t get any new specs on the camera, so I posted the specs we reported earlier. I’ll post more if I get more.
I also expect a new EF-S 18-135 IS to be announced alongside the EF 40mm f/2.8 pancake.
