New Cinema Camera & Lenses for NAB 2013

NAB 2013 April 6 – April 11 – Las Vegas, Nevada
Canon will be announcing new cinema lenses and a new cinema camera for NAB 2013 we are told.

The camera will sit somewhere between the EOS C100 and EOS C300, but will not be a direct replacement for the EOS C100. It will have both a PL and EF mount option. At present, no specifications for the camera have been given. Canon may also show a prototype that would come above the C500, but apparently that has yet to be decided internally.

Lenses, no mention of focal length. One will be a zoom and the other a prime. There is some suggestion both could be “lower quality” version of  Canon’s current cine lenses. This is something similar to what Leica is doing with their cinema lens lineup.

No mention of a DSLR being announced for the show. I would expect some goodies for the EOS-1D C to come around NAB in the form of a firmware update. We already know they’ll be adding 25P in 4K, maybe there are a few other things they could add?

Join Canon Live Learning for a first look at the EOS C500, the only Cinema EOS camera offering support for 4K RAW output. Canon EOS 5DC, Real or a Joke?

Real or a Joke?
I received this tidbit of fun when I was at NAB, just getting around to posting it. It shows a model name “5DC” on an official Canon web site. The one issue I see with the “leak” is that it originated on April 1, so maybe a Canon employee was having some fun?

Anyway, here’s the evidence and direct quote from the submission.

Now if you click the link, the page is missing, but if you look at google’s cached version of that page, it has titles and headlines for a Canon Eos 5DC (which I am currently hoping for). But the actual content of the page is for the C300.

But it also says that this was a google snapshot done on April 1, so is this a cruel April fool’s joke for true Canon rumor junkies? See the screen shot. I have a few more scrolling down the page if you need.

Cinema EOS 1D & EOS C500 for NAB

NAB 2012
Canon will be introducing two new cameras for NAB. I’ve been reading a lot of the tips coming in and trying to make sense of it, thankfully someone else has received some of the same information and has.

We should see an official announcement on Thursday.

Canon EOS C100 & C500 Coming? [CR1]

Cinema EOS Grows
I received some info that 2 new cameras would be talked about at NAB next week in Las Vegas. The names C100 and C500 were mentioned.

One of the cameras being true 4K.

EOSRAW
Another rumour to appear on other sites and in my inbox is the development of EOSRAW. Apparently it’s recordable to CF cards and is capable of 12bit at 4K.
