Turkish photographer Mert Gündoğdu has written a first impressions review of the recently announced Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II, along with a lot of excellent sample images from the lens, as well as various performance comparisons against the original Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L. The CA comparison is especially intriguing and shows Canon has done a superb job with the optics of the new lens.

The site is in Turkish, so you may need to use a translator, though the images speak for themselves.

Below are a few comparisons and samples from the article, to see the rest head over to Mert’s blog.

New PIXMA Pro Printer Coming [CR2]

New PIXMA Pro Printer Coming [CR2]

By Canon Rumors | September 3, 2015 | Canon Accessories

We’re told that new PIXMA Pro printer(s) will arrive before the end of the year, most likely at PhotoPlus Expo next month in New York City. The flagship of the line, the PIXMA Pro-1 was announced in October 2011, and a year later the PIXMA Pro-10 and PIXMA Pro-100 printers were announced.

Details of the new printer(s) were sketchy, but we’re told that Canon will finally introduce a 17″ printer for the PIXMA line, and we should expect a new ink technology with the printer.

While I appreciated the build quality of the PIXMA Pro-1, it’d be nice if the new printers weren’t made out of iron.

More to come…

CR Review – Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG Art

CR Review – Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG Art

By Canon Rumors | September 3, 2015 | Canon Reviews

Dustin Abbott has completed the Canon Rumors review of the Sigma 24-35mm f/2 DG Art series lens. He attempted to answer the biggest question about this lens, who’s it for?

Where people may not buy into the Sigma 24-35mm f/2 ART lens is in the “why” department. The limited zoom range is going to cause a lot of people to wonder “why”, particularly when Sigma themselves have both excellent 24mm f/1.4 and a 35mm f/1.4 ART series primes. The 18-35mm f/1.8 ART has proven successful in part because there are relatively few quality alternatives specific to the APS-C market. Part of the challenge for this lens is the fact that full frame owners have a much broader choice of quality options. I own the Canon 35mm f/2 IS, which offers similar image quality at a lower price, much smaller size, and adds an extremely effective image stabilizer and higher focus accuracy. The tradeoff vs. many other 24mm or 35mm primes is that you lose a full stop of light to gain the small amount of zoom. You also get a larger, heavier lens.

Lee Filters Announces EF 11-24mm f/4L Support

Lee Filters Announces EF 11-24mm f/4L Support

By Canon Rumors | September 2, 2015 | Third Party Accessories

Lee Filters has announced support for Canon’s EF 11-24 mm f/4L with the SW150 Mark II filter system adaptor ring.

From Lee Filters

You’ve asked, we listened! Announcing the newest addition to our SW150 Filter System… The Canon 11-24mm Adaptor Ring for the Mark II!

*Please note that due to the physical size of this lens, and the extremely wide angle of view, the SW150 filter holder will vignette at the widest angles. To avoid this we recommend using a minimum focal length of 13.5mm when using the filter holder with two filter slots and 12.5mm when using the holder with one filter slot.
