More Canon EOS 6D Mark II Talk [CR1]

By Canon Rumors | April 27, 2015 | Canon DSLR Rumors

A specification list for the EOS 6D Mark II has come about. It’s pretty much the complete opposite of what we posted a week or so ago.

  • 28MP
  • 6 fps
  • ISO 100 – 102400 (expandable to 204800)
  • new AF system (but not the same as on 5DS)
  • 98% viewfinder coverage
  • Single SD card slot
  • WiFi, NFC, and GPS
  • small improvements for video features

The rumor above suggests that Canon wouldn’t release a full frame camera with the same resolution as the Rebel series cameras, which are now at 24mp. We posted that the EOS 6D Mark II would retain its own sensor and would have a lower megapixel count than the predicted 28mp in the upcoming Canon EOS 5D Mark IV.

I personally believe consumers of full frame DSLRs in this day and age understand that not all pixels are created equal. I don’t believe megapixel count is part of the marketing strategies for DSLRs anymore, unless you’re talking about the high resolution 50mp+ camera.

Availability of the EOS 6D Mark II is said to be early 2016.

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II Talk [CR2]

Canon EOS-1D X Mark II Talk [CR2]

By Canon Rumors | April 26, 2015 | Canon DSLR Rumors

We’re told there are a handful of Canon EOS-1D X Mark II bodies currently being tested in the field. Canon hopes to announce this camera some time in 2015.

We’re told the cameras employ a higher megapixel sensor than the 18.1mp on the current EOS-1D X. The autofocus system is all new with more AF points and there is “new technology” in the viewfinder display. There is new battery technology to help lower the overall weight of the camera. The LCD is larger than the current camera and there will be obvious ergonomic changes.

It isn’t known if there is a new DIGIC processor in the camera, or what card types are going to be supported.

Review: Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

Review: Canon EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM

By Canon Rumors | April 26, 2015 | Canon Reviews

DXOMark has completed their review of the EF 24-105 f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens.

From DXOMark

Despite ranking behind the more expensive Sigma and Canon pro L competition, the new 24-105mm STM standard zoom offers respectable results across the board. But if you can afford to shell out an extra $300 for the $899 Sigma 24-105mm f/4, you’ll certainly benefit from better edge sharpness at the wider aperture settings, a faster fixed f/4 aperture when shooting at 105mm, and better light transmission, too.

New Firmware Coming for EOS 7D Mark II

New Firmware Coming for EOS 7D Mark II

By Canon Rumors | April 23, 2015 | Canon Firmware

According to a reader on our forum, Canon has confirmed they’re attempting to solve a service issue with his camera with new firmware. The issues with his camera have been autofocus related, and even after replacing parts of the camera, Canon service was still not happy with how it performed.

I asked if it was a new firmware and they said that it in fact is a new firmware and it should come in early next week

When we’ll see the new firmware released to the public is unknown, but it could be a relatively significant update for the camera.
