Canon Sends Invitation to Dealers for Major Mirrorless Presentation Next Month

By Canon Rumors | January 19, 2018

We’ve been told that Canon is sending out “very elaborate” invites to select dealers and VIPs for a mirrorless camera announcement next month. The invitation was described as being very high end, printed on heavy glossy paper and showing a silhouette of a camera shaped like the EOS M6 with a hole cut out where Read more…

Will The Next Mirrorless Camera From Canon Have 4K Video? [CR1]

Will The Next Mirrorless Camera From Canon Have 4K Video? [CR1]

By Canon Rumors | January 18, 2018 | Canon DSLR Rumors

We have confirmed that a mirrorless camera will be announced next month ahead of CP+ show which begins on March 1, 2018.

While we cannot confirm the “EOS M50” moniker is the camera coming next month, that’s the logical assumption based on past information.

We’re told by a completely unknown source that the next mirrorless camera will shoot 4K video. I was wondering what could possibly differentiate another APS-C mirrorless shooter from the current offerings, and this is certainly one way to do so.

I urge you to take this as a [CR1] rumor until we can confirm some specifications for the upcoming new mirrorless camera.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 OS Sport & 70-200mm f/4 OS Contemporary Rumors Make the Rounds Again

By Canon Rumors | January 18, 2018 | Third Party Lenses

Back in early December we had a [CR1] report that Sigma would be releasing two new 70-200mm lenses.  It looks like other sites are picking this up today as new information or perhaps further confirming the initial report. No additional information has been provided by any of the new report, so I think this is just a case of recycling.

We were told the following Sigma lenses would be coming:

  • Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS Sport
  • Sigma 70-200mm f/4 DG OS Contemporary

We have not received any further confirmation that Sigma would be announcing these lenses ahead of CP+, so this remains a [CR1] rumor for now.

From Nikkei Asian Review:

$1.8bn set aside for 2018 on brisk earnings

TOKYO — Canon will pay back more interest-bearing debt this year to improve its financial standing following the 2016 acquisition of a medical equipment business from Toshiba.

Repayment will double from 2017 levels to around 200 billion yen ($1.79 billion) in light of strong earnings last year, with an aim of whittling down borrowings from parties including Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ. Read the full story

Review: Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro

Review: Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro

By Canon Rumors | January 18, 2018 | Canon Reviews

Photography Blog has completed their review of the brand new Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro. I’m assuming this is a highly specialized lens. If you’re on the fence between it and the TS-E 90mm f/2.8L Macro, you should probably rent both to make the final decision.

The review is more of the same when it comes to the new tilt-shift lenses. They’re optically great, well built and will give you great results.

In essence, the Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro lens is a super specialist lens, but if you can get the best from it, or see a specific need for it, you’ll be extremely pleased with the results. Perhaps this is a lens to add to your rental list before committing to buy, as (like other TS-E lenses) it comes with a very high price tag. Read the full review

I’m interested in seeing some real world work done with this lens. Post some shots to the forum if you’ve had the chance to shoot with the TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro.
