Canon EOS M3 Coming to North America? [CR2]

Canon EOS M3 Coming to North America? [CR2]

By Canon Rumors | August 4, 2015 | Canon DSLR News

We’re told that Canon USA is currently discussing whether or not to bring the EOS M3 to the United States. Discussions are ongoing and a decision will be made soon.

The original EOS M was available in North America, but its successor, the EOS M2 was not. I do believe the lacklustre lens lineup for the system is one of the reasons the system isn’t currently in the United States, along with the fact mirrorless cameras continue to lag in sales in the USA compared to other markets around the globe.

Sigma 12-24 Art & Contemporary Lenses on the Way? [CR1]

Sigma 12-24 Art & Contemporary Lenses on the Way? [CR1]

By Canon Rumors | August 4, 2015 | Third Party Lenses

According to PhotoRumors, Sigma is working on 2 versions of the 12-24mm lens. One will be an Art series lens and the other a Contemporary series lens, this is the same sort of thing they’ve done with the new 150-600 lenses.

Sigma currently makes a 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 DG HSM II, and a constant aperture Art version of such a lens would be very sought after if they continue with their aggressive pricing.

EOS-1D X Mark II and DIGIC 7 Talk [CR0]

EOS-1D X Mark II and DIGIC 7 Talk [CR0]

By Canon Rumors | August 3, 2015 | Canon DSLR Rumors

A thread at DPReview has ignited a lot of talk about the EOS-1D X Mark II, EOS 5D Mark IV and the EOS 6D Mark II. Most of what was talked about is in regards to the upcoming DIGIC 7 processor from Canon. The provider of the information is the same person that said the EOS 5D Mark IV would actually be called the EOS 5D X, which is something we don’t think is going to happen.

According to DPReview forum member MichaelVadon:

The Digic 7 is going to be a quad core cpu which will allow 4x the processing power for high MP, high frame rate bodies. The 5DX will contain one Digic 7 and the 1DX Mark II will contain 2 Digic 7s and 1 Digic 6. The Digic 6 will be for metwring and other smaller tasks. The 1DX will have a different larger battery while thr 5DX will keep going with the same.

This is not the type of stuff I like to post here, but it’s certainly makings the rounds. I guess the anticipation for these cameras is already quite high.

With a rumor like this, please make sure you use himalayan pink salt.

Patent: Canon EF 50mm f/1.4

By Canon Rumors | July 31, 2015 | Canon Patents

The optical formula for a new EF 50mm f/1.4 has appeared. It looks like the lens has internal focus and an odd negative front element. We haven’t heard anything for a while about a new 50mm f/1.4, but it’s definitely needed.
