Bryan over at The-Digital-Picture has completed his review of the ST-E3-RT remote for Canon’s 600EX-RT flash system.
From his review:
“If you are a professional or serious amateur photographer and have the ability to choose the Canon’s radio wireless system for your uses, the decision to get one or more ST-E3-RT remote transmitters makes a lot of sense.”
Our reviewer, Justin, didn’t weigh in on the ST-E3-RT but did have high praise for Canon’s 600EX-RT system in our review. The bottom line is that Canon has a real winner with their RT system and all the components of it make for an incredible setup for anyone interested in off-camera flash.
You can purchase the ST-E3-RT from B&H on it’s own, from Adorama or save by buying it as part of a 2 speedlight, 1 ST-E3-RT set.
From B&H Photo
B&H Photo has limited stock of the Canon ST-E3-RT wireless transmitter. This seems to be a difficult accessory to get your hands on judging by the emails I get.
This transmitter is only compatible with the Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT. There are rumors of a less expensive radio receiving flash in the near future. The last word was it would come in the first quarter of 2013.

A new radio ready flash
A new flash is in the works to replace the Speedlite 430EX II and could come as early as this fall. The new flash will be ready to work with the ST-E3-RT transmitter. The current 430 would be discontinued like the 580 was.
No word if we’ll see a flash smaller than the 430 replacement with RT capabilities. I personally don’t think we’ll see the 3xx series updated to RT.
