Review: Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS Sport

By Canon Rumors | June 2, 2015 | Canon Reviews

The-Digital-Picture has completed their review of the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS Sport lens.

From The-Digital-Picture:

Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Sports Lens sets the bar high for build quality, performance and for range of features among the 150-600mm lenses available at review time. With optical performance just a bit shy of the most elite zoom lenses, and with an incredible range of very long focal lengths available, sports and especially wildlife photographers along with many others will find this lens to be a very useful tool in their kits. This lens can bring home imagery that many others cannot.

EOS 5DS & EOS 5DS R Release Date Information

EOS 5DS & EOS 5DS R Release Date Information

By Canon Rumors | June 1, 2015 | Canon DSLR News

There has been a lot of talk over the last week about the actual release date of the brand new Canon EOS 5DS and EOS 5DS R camera bodies. I have spoken to three large retailers in the USA and they have all said the same thing, they do not yet have an official sale date from Canon USA.

It was originally stated by Canon USA that we would see the cameras near the end of June, and there’s no reason to think that still won’t be the case.

At the time of writing this, the buyers at three major retailers do not yet have a date of sale. This could change at any moment and we’ll let you know when it does.

*Note: I cannot make any comments about retailers outside of the USA.

EOS 6D Mark II To Shrink & Move Upmarket [CR2]

EOS 6D Mark II To Shrink & Move Upmarket [CR2]

By Canon Rumors | June 1, 2015 | Canon DSLR Rumors

We’re told the EOS 6D Mark II, which isn’t expected until early 2016 at the earliest, will move upmarket “slightly” in features and pricing.

We’re told again that a big goal with the camera is a smaller size and lighter weight, without sacrificing build quality. The camera will have its own full frame sensor, just like the current camera, along with the addition of NFC. Canon is also working on a “new connectivity feature” that may appear first in the EOS 6D Mark II, but it still in its infancy.

There “won’t be anything groundbreaking” in the EOS 6D Mark II, but the goal is to make it a good evolutionary upgrade. Expect bigger things from the EOS 5D Mark IV and EOS-1D X Mark II.

It’s far too early to expect any sort of specifications leak, as we’re nowhere near that being finalized.

Patent: Canon Improved Mirror, AF at High FPS & EVF

Patent: Canon Improved Mirror, AF at High FPS & EVF

By Canon Rumors | June 1, 2015 | Canon Patents

I had trouble understanding this patent, which covers a lot of different variables. Keith at Northlight breaks it down:

An interesting Canon patent reverses a fixed semitransparent mirror, to just divert light to a phase AF unit, whilst an EVF appears where the focus screen would be.
