Onscreen Audio Meters
“It isn't perfect by a long shot, but we're making very swift progress this holiday weekend. I found the VRAM and was able to write a small task that monitors the audio levels at 30 Hz and draws a very simple level meter on the top of the screen. It is calibrated with 5 dB tick marks, but the ballistics are bad and it isn't synced with the redraw period (causing it to flicker), but we're running real code doing real work on the camera!”

Amazing, getting close to a 24p and full manual control cam as it should have been since Day One!
24p should come WAY after control over audio and aperture.
That is very cool! Impressive. I have no idea how one would go about installing an extra layer of software on top of the firmware, but I like it!
Does this mean we’ll have open-source cameras one day?
Maybe the Canon L-series will indicate Linux compatibility :)
I like progress, be it canon or other…
bring it on:)
This is pretty nifty.
I do wish he had started with the visual aspects of the video first, rather than the audio, since I am all but half deaf
