This image is actually from the 1D Mark IV. So does that cast some doubt on 60fps @ 720p being available in the 5D Mark II firmware update?

thanks Tom

The new firmware for the 5D Mark II will not only feature 24p, but there will also be a 720p @ 60fps mode.

I neglected reporting on this because I just figured that was a given. I've received numerous tips on this.

  1. As I have stated earlier the menu screenshot was not from a 5DMk2 but from a 7D. Tim Smith was using this as a reference to what to expect with the new firmware for the 5DMk2. Do listen to what was said not just what you saw on the video.

  2. Truth be told, the vast majority of users can’t tell 720 from 1080, even the fraction who actually have 1080 displays. I’ll even be so bold as to posit that few can even tell 720 from 480. My wife sure can’t.

  3. What Tim said was rather jumbled. If this is official, and that’s what he meant to say, wouldn’t it be possible for someone to get him to clarify it in an email or something?

  4. That is exactly what Tim Smith said, new 5D firmware will include 720p 60fps allowing more video options matching that of the 7D and 1DMk4. Couldnt be clearer.
