Received a link to a guy claiming Canon would be releasing a firmware update for the 7D sometime in the middle of October. Apparently the firmware addresses an issue with 720p. No word on what that issue is. There's probably other small tweaks and fixes as well.

  1. Just an FYI: I had a 1D3 on order, which was being sourced directly from Canon through my local supplier. This camera was scheduled to arrive today, but my supplier has been informed that the product is now discontinued.

He also said that the 1D4 will be announced tomorrow, and that he would have availability and pricing by then.

  2. That might actually be “doable”; even better, if it came from a downscaled 1080p output the quality should improve quite a bit. Don’t see why it couldn’t be available at the same frame rates as 1080

  3. Martin Beek from Marvels Film has published some more information from Canon on the subject, saying that the firmwareupdate addresses some issues he had with the camera, that can be read on his weblog: http://marvelsfilm.wordpress.com

    Cheers.
