Author: Canon Rumors

From Redusers “A little birdy just whispered something pretty remarkable into my ear. I cannot verify this AT ALL but rumor has it that Canon may be prepping to unveil a RAW or sRAW recording module for the 5D2, 7D, etc, which would record possibly via the CF card slot. Apparently they are being tested and used now. Will post more details later if I get any. Don’t know about framerates or RAW vs sRAW. And again, this is totally unconfirmed, from a single “high-placed” source.” Read More: http://reduser.net/forum/….. thanks Tom cr

Far Fetched Stuff? I received many rumors that never appear on this site, I try to filter them a bit. However, times are slow right now. So here are a few I’ve received over the last month or so. UPDATE Aren’t patents fun? One thing I hate about patents is I can’t read them. I read through the 4 of these and still had no idea what they were. One of our commenters did however. “The first patent is describing a read out shift which only is useful in video recording. The patents 2 and 3 rely on the optical IS element doing the dirty work and the third describes a way of moving the relevant lens elements in an IS lens. So nothing, as in not a single thing, is implicating more than the presence of sensors that…

New York and Canon sitting in a tree………… Text from PDN Canon U.S.A. persuaded the state of New York to spend $8 million in taxpayer money to widen a road that will lead to its new headquarters. About 1,200 people work at Canon’s current U.S. headquarters in Lake Success, Long Island. The imaging company plans to open a bigger office, which will eventually employ 2,000 people, in Melville, further out on the island. Politicians were desperate to keep Canon from fleeing to New Jersey. As part of a deal to keep Canon in the area, the New York State Department…

From an email “A sports shooter in the Netherlands told me that his agency has tested a new camera for Canon. It was still in a Mark III housing, but the inside was changed. Next week canon will send him two updates of the camera and a 7D.” Lots of reports of 1D testing going on like gangbusters. Still looks like a 2010 announcement. cr

From Naturfokus A new review of the 7D has popped up at Naturfokus. Summary “Canon 7D combine very good image quality with a fast and accurate AF-system. I think this will be a popular camera for shooting action. The camera is in many ways closer to the 1D Mark III camera, rather than the 5D Mark II, and a good step over the Canon 50D. I think many photo enthusiasts and pros will acquire the 7D camera. In my case, this will be the first 1.6 crop factor camera, I will bring in my photo bag on assignments and expeditions.”…
