Confirmed
I've received confirmation that a new Canon body is being tested in Vancouver. Things are so tight lipped that this great source hasn't seen the model number.

It's suggested this is final testing before an announcement.

The same source has said we will see a 1Ds Mark IV before the end of February.

So if anyone attending the Olympics sees anything attached to a big white lens that looks suspicious, send me a picture of it.

  1. haha thats great! at least the focusing appears fine. strange how people’s expectations increase ever so quickly. and here we are plebians who thought the mark iv’s high iso performance was something that would make any increase in iso in real world conditions unnecesary given the stunning shots being posted.

keep up the insider reports! haha

  2. I did not say it was impossible, but _if_ they make it 5 FPS at full resolution, i think there is a technical problem with higher frequencies. Double speed would be nice, but the 1V needed the extra motor booster to make it possible… If they don’t build that into the 1Ds4 because of whatever reason, it’ll stay at 5 FPS. If it can reach 8 FPS or more, then they’re likely to throw in a double DIGIC, and use all that speed even at full res. It’d be a nice show-stealer :P
