Misprint
Apparently the folks at Canon even want a 24-70 f/2.8L IS!

I vote misprint for now, even though they make it more than once.

Something more?

I'm on the road so I can't post any screenshots in case the correction is made by Canon.

thanks Ettore

  1. To repeat what “ossme” already pointed out; If you look closely at both pictures of their “Lens of the Month,” you can plainly see the lack of any IS button or IS markings on the old EF 24-70mm f2.8L lens.

And I’m waiting (patiently?) too for my pre-ordered 7D from Amazon.ughhh! My Kingdom for a shipping update email!

This EF 24-70mm f2.8L lens is 2nd on my list of to-get’s, right behind that beautiful Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II. I’m getting the 7D mostly for video, but it’s a great excuse to finally get back into my old photog-hobby.

  2. I don’t feel like IS is necessary for 24-70mm lens at all. I got one and 5dII recently and feel that through this lens I don’t see any of my handshakes like my old Simga 50-150mm on 50D at all.

  3. Depends on personal shooting situations I suppose. I would like the IS for low light work, though I agree its not as useful as IS on longer lenses

  4. I have the 24-70 and it is a great piece of glass. Having IS on it would be HUGE!! Dunno if I would quickly plunk down another $1200 just for IS, but I would think about it.
