The release of this lens would make me buy it and a 7D to go with it. I, like others on here, would rather see a 24-70 2.8 IS. But if the 24-70 could somehow be a half stop faster that would be the most amazing.

I had a 17-55 2.8 IS great sharp fast focusing lens, but after 2 weeks mine was sooo full of dust I returned it and bought a 24-70…and no dust.
Another FF snob. You do know that the current 17-55/2.8 IS kicks the cr*p out of all the FF standard zooms right? :P It’s only the sharpest zoom lens in the entire Canon lineup, together with the now-legendary 70-200/4 IS.
