  1. Possibly means US preorders go live at 6a EDT. I’ll probably get up early that day, though preorders for the R1 may not start until late summer or early fall.

They will be live at 6AM EDT [CR5MarkII]

For once, Denmark is ahead of USA. The pro dealer opened up for pre-ordering the day the development announcement was made.
Note, this doesn't require a down payment and it's free to decline when the camera comes up for sale.

They wouldn't be allowed to take money per Canon rules (though some dealers still do).

    Lol yeah, 24% VAT.

WIth the VAT money I can literally buy a 2 way trip ticket to Japan and get it there tax free.

Well, @john1970 placed a preorder like that for both the R1 and R5II with his local US dealer months ago.

  7. I am excited to see the NDAs lift and hopefully a bunch of content/reviews on the R1 and R5 II. I\'ll preorder, but they really do have to show more than just an incremental improvement to get my money this time around.

Same here. Also in Germany. Can’t wait to get my hands on the R5 II

The only thing I‘m missing is a more capable hotshot shotgun mic and an updated version of the RF15-35 L IS USM.

Is there any new info on the RF15-35 Z?
Or any other lenses releasing in 2025 for that matter :)

  9. Will there also be a new shotgun hotshot mic alongside the hotshot wireless mic?

Hopefully Canon will be able to come up with something better than the DM-E1.
You’ve asked this question a dozen times or more. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is one definition of insanity.

  10. SERIOUSLY? That means those of us on the left coast will have to get up at 3:00AM!!!
Do you know that frogs "wake up" at 3AM? Just a joke.
I am a morning bird, will wake up on time.

    You’re right!

Maybe something new came up though. That was my hope at least. Because he clearly said „and more“ so there is something we weren’t told yet.

I‘m just „shaking the rumor tree“

For me "incremental" may be substantial enough to order the R5 II. Stacked sensor, readout speed on par or better than the R3, better AF performance in action photography, Eye-AF better than R3, quicker wake from sleep or better control over sleep, and a faux shutter sound in ES mode would be plenty increments to get my money.

No, There won't be a new shotgun mic. Just wait for RODE or whoever....... If you care about sound quality so much, there are a billion mics out there.

I don’t think so… doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is what I call “practice”.

Doing crazy a$$ $h!t is what I call insanity.
