  1. Is a inkjet worthwhile? I haven’t used one for a few years, and at that time, the ink would disolve into a mess if a drop of water fell on it, and the prints faded in a few weeks or months. The cost of ink was also way high. I do have a Epson Photo printer that I only use to print on DVD’s or CD’s, but haven’t even tried it on photo paper. It gets pulled out of the closet once or twice a year when I have a CD or DVD project and want to print on several disks.

I realize that the pigment inks now available are much more permanent, but the last Canon bubble jet I had put some sort of a worthless clear coat over the ink, but a drop of water still messed the print up.

I have two xerox phaser 6200’s for everyday printing and they do a passable job on informal photos and prints them very quickly. I also have a Kodak Dyesub that makes permanent photo prints when I want really nice ones. I’ve managed to find paper and ink kits for it at a fraction of new price. I can also take prints to Costco. ICC profiles are available for the printers they use, and prints are cheap when you only want one.
