Warning!
I received these specs today, they're nothing like anything I've received before. So I'm going to post them for fun.
This is a rumors site!
EOS 3D Specifications
– Price: 3499
-27mp Foveon (?)
Foveon is property of Sigma, so that kills the spec list. Unless Canon has their own version.
– 5FPS
– 16bit (16 bit what?)
– BG-E9 Grip, uses 7D & 5D2 battery
– 7D Weathersealing
This one deserves a massive grain of salt like I said earlier.

IF the Foveon is so great, why there is no major camera maker are using it? All of them are buying sensor from Sony( except Fuji ). Even Canon is buying the lower end sensor from Sony. Nikon could have switched to Foveon and left Canon in the dust. This has not yet happened yet.
Man, you really missed the point. I guess you don’t print your pics and just view them 100% on your monitor, in that case you only need a 2MP camera at best so you don’t have to scroll :P.
There is more than just high ISO to de-throne 1D4. From what I read, 7d’s AF is not as good as 1D4, also, FF will make AF coverage area smaller, 8MP will hurt it crop room, and other build/human interface features. If you make a FF sensor, the cost of 8mp and 32mp are about the same, so canon don’t need to develop another senor.
So overall, the above post is my not-so-serious reply to ppl really want high ISO and FF pro-camera. Enjoy.
Why do you think Canon should go to 16 bit, given that 14 bit currently exceeds the abilities of their sensors?
All it would achieve is larger files and longer processing times.
A printer or display shows photos with the same resolution, no matter what resolution your photos have.
Whether you have photos of 1 MP or 1GP, they will ALL have (for example) 300 PPI * [paper with] * [paper height]; photos are either upscaled or downscaled to the printer resolution.
The reason why the D3s photos (read carefully ENTIRE photos, not pixels) are cleaner than those of the 1D4 is because the sensor is larger: 1.3 * 1.3 times, NOT because the photosites are larger.
The larger sensor captures more light for the same exposure. This is why the sensor size must be normalized if one wants to understand whether noise level is given by pixel size or sensor size.
