I have one… bought it two days ago from my local retailer.
Is the IS viable at macro distances? I really think so. I got some great shots at 1/60 (where on a crop camera, 1/60 would be 1 stop or so from the 1/160 that would be in the ‘no shake’ zone).
The photos I’ve taken so far are here:

Is the bokeh really good? The few shots I’ve taken so far seem to indicate that it is very soft and creamy. The MTF charts do NOT give this lens justice. It also has a VERY fast AF, and not ‘just for a macro’. When you put the focus limiter in place, appropriate for general or macro modes, it ‘snaps’ right into place. It’s also lighter than expected, and the manual focus ring moves very nicely.
I was also playing around with some of the “PLM” umbrellas from Alien bees, and discovered that this lens has excellent flare control and extremely low levels of CA.
It’s got everything I could have hoped for except maybe an f/2 aperture, which isn’t of much use for macro, but would have made this wonderful lens an excellent general purpose short telephoto lens.
