Canon will be making some announcements ahead of IBC 2018 in Amsterdam which begins on September 13, 2018. So expect the announcements to take place early next week.
We expect to see a new “pro” camcorder announced, it will be capable of 4K at 60p and will be focused on broadcasters.
We also expect to see new Cinema EOS accessories announced, no word on what those will be. There will be no Cinema EOS camera announced for the show.
A last but not least, at least two new broadcast lenses will be announced.

I hope it has dual card slot, IBIS and no crop in 4K! Otherwise Canon is doomed and I am leaving to other brand.

;)
You forgot the ability to take stills (even if it is a camcorder--all devices need to do both stills and videos) at 12+ fps with full auto focus. It also must take EF, R, EF-S, EF-M lens with no adapters. For max $1500.

I'd love to see them put out the G7XIII.
So would I, maybe moreso than the A7SIII competitor. People sleep on those point and shoots but if I can get DPAF and 60fps in my pocket, my main rig might get sidelined for a while until I need audio or some more cinematic shots with a gimbal. The autofocus on the Mark 2 really hurts. I'd pay if it were the same exact camera with DPAF and no 4k if they'd release it.

I'd love to see them put out an A7SIII competitor since that's supposedly coming soon as well. Will have to scrape nickels for that bad boy unless someone here plans on doing a giveaway of that one as well ;)
I cancelled my A7III order after hearing that Sony has a BIG E MOUNT announcement before photokina. I'm hoping this is the A7SIII.

Having said that, Canon could potentially keep my business if they launched a video-centric competitor that offers similar features/price.

Will know soon enough!

Most likely. It's overdue for an update, especially with their AF being infinitely more sophisticated across the board nowadays. I'm a hobbyist that's in the middle of turning video into a profession, so if I'm investing in something it's going to have to be for the long haul. I started out with a 70D 2 years ago and the M50 has been rock solid, especially with the speedbooster I got for it. Being able to go in with low light concerns tossed out the window would justify the money spent on a new body.

I'm in a similar situation. I do photography and video work on the side. In this past year 70% of my revenue is now coming from video. I need to up my game a little bit and push further into this market. EOS R doesn't offer much. A7III sure does though... and A7SIII will likely be like a mini cinema camera given Sony's drive for specs and performance.

Exciting times ahead!

So is this the end for the M series? I know they’re coming out with a new lens but I don’t see any up dates to the M5. The rumors dropped off on that months ago. That’s what I really wanted. I have a lot of canning class but I just can’t afford to invest in the so is this the end for the M series? I know they’re coming out with a new lens but I don’t see any dates to the M5. The rumors dropped off on that months ago. That’s what I really wanted. I have a lot of Canon EF-S glass and a couple of older L lenses, but I just can’t afford to invest in the R. I use all high-end Nikon gear at work because that’s what they supply. But I just don’t have that cash for my personal use. I’ve been holding out because I was really hoping Canon would come along with a nice upgrade. It’s starting to seem like Fuji is going to be the only viable option for people wanting APS.

I've used Canon GX10 camcorder extensively, I was excited to film 4K60 with dual SD card slots and supposed IBIS, but turned out GX10 has not perfect image quality, IBIS barely visible (videos are very shaky), battery life is barely 1 hour per huge expensive battery (I had 3 batteries and that was not enough to film for a whole day). Worst is the Dual Pixel AF was not working as I had hoped, I thought Dual Pixel AF was the best AF technology in the world but in GX10 it's just not perfect (and requires 3 taps on the display to change AF point from one face to the other or from one face to an object). I hope Canon improves on GX10 and makes it more compact, lighter, with much longer battery life, more affordable at about $1500, the optics and quality should have better and more bokeh and I think 10bit HLG would be a good thing to have. And I'd like to be able to encode at a lower YouTube-compatible 4K60 H265 HLG 10bit bitrate. I post all my GX10 videos since January here

From my Euro sources, the specific VIDEO camera that is supposed to be introduced by Canon is an XC-15 update (XC-20?) with an Interchangeable lens and UHD 4K at 4:2:2 10-bit 60 fps on a one inch sensor at a high bit rate which means the camera will have GREAT video quality! I am also being told that there will be 120 fps 1920x1080p mode but it may not be 10-bit 4:2:2 but rather 8-bit 4:2:0 colour running at 120 fps and 1920x1080p

What my sources are NOT CLEAR about, is whether this is an actual camera introduction or a mere engineering announcement and whether it's form factor is TRULY an XC-15 style or a higher-end VIXIA body-style although they are leaning MORE towards the XC-15-body style. It also seems that Canon MAY DELAY the actual introduction to CES 2019 in January to allow for further BIOS development to get the 120 fps HD up to 4:2:2 10-bit colour!

Lately, my Canon rumour sources from Europe have been getting pretty sparse in terms of NEW information, so I suspect the hatches are being battened down by Canon and secrecy is being ENFORCED...So I suspect that means an EVEN BIGGER ANNOUNCEMENT is coming soon.......WE SHALL SEE !!!!

Will the 2 new lenses be RF mount, and if so will they also be relevant for the EOS-R?
If they are EFP lenses, they are for 2/3" sensor.

If they are cine lenses (less likely), they are for cine mounts (PL and EF). If you really want them on EOS R, add an adapter. Compared to the cost of the cine lenses, the adapter is really inexpensive.

Would the RF mount adjustment ring be rather neat with variable aperture during some shoot sequences?
Both EFP and cine lenses have a dedicated aperture ring.
