New diffractive optics super telephoto lenses on the way, with a new twist….. [CR1]

This is one the big advantages of a DO lens that seem to get lost in the conversation. Everyone seems to just focuses on the weight.

Patent: Canon EF 200-600mm f/4.5-5.6 IS

Most willing to spend that kind of money would just go for a used 500mm f4.

    Chances of a Canon 200-600?

Canon has just released a patent for a 200-600mm f5.6 lens. http://egami.blog.so-net.ne.jp/2015-12-07 My guess is that the weight and price would be closer to the Sigma S 150-600mm.

    Interview With Canon's Masaya Maeda

    Patent: Tamron 85mm f/1.8 VC

This is a mirrorless lens. It matches the same 11 elements in 8 groups of the Zeiss Batis 85mm f1.8 lens that was announced recently for the FE system. It would make sense that Zeiss went to Tamron to design this lens as Zeiss has little experience in designing stabilized lenses.

Canon Developing a New Slower Supertelephoto Lens [CR2]

The 400mm f5.6 had a MFD of 3.5M. A 500mm MFD would be even longer and could limit it's appeal.

Kipon Develops First EF/EF-S to M4/3 Adaptor with AF

Kipon posted a video showing the adapter with the 70-200mm f4. AF seems very fast but I would stick with center focus and reframe to ensure it focuses on what I want. Overall better than I expected and faster than Canon Liveview. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIFwXztcOzA

Sounds like a camcorder, not a GH4 competitor.

    Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L IS Mentioned [CR1]

I wonder if Canon would make a DO version to reduce the size and weight even further. This would provide more market separation between the 100-400. Nikon was able to produce their 300mm f4 "DO" for just under $2k.

    Patent: Another 100x Zoom PowerShot

Based on actual focal length it was designed for a 1/3.2" sensor. With diffraction kicking in around F4 there won't be much detail at the long end as it is at f9!!!
