Industry News: Costco is closing all of their in-store photo centers on February 14, 2021

I've recently sold my car. I live in coastal Orange County, California. Where even the rats wear either Maui Jim or Oakly sunglasses  In Huntington Beach and Newport Beach, California there are more Tesla than Toyota vehicles. BMW i3 and i8 are also common. If you live in Sedalia, KS...

Industry News: Costco is closing all of their in-store photo centers on February 14, 2021

Over the last serveral years I been deleting my digital files, and running negatives, slides, photo CDs, etc through a shreedder. I've been shooting with ILCs since the 1960s—that's a lot of photos. I don't have many photos that are over several weeks old—I cull my phone and cloud account...

Industry News: Costco is closing all of their in-store photo centers on February 14, 2021

One step closer to ILCs going the way of the buggy whip. Times change and tastes change. Your grandchildern don't need shoeboxes full of 4x6 prints—they carry around thousands of photos on their phones. How long until Costco closes it's Tire departments. With te rise of Uber/Lyft many people...

CIPA: Less than 7 million cameras have shipped from Jan-Oct 202

Not only am I aging out, but after 60 years I've become bored with photography. I've already bought my last standalone camera. I'm sure I'm not the onlyone looking for another hobby.

    There may be a higher-end APS-C mirrorless announced in late 2020, early 2021 [CR2]

8 megapixels is enough for a billboard or a double-truck in a print magazine. Also a 12x18 silver gelatin print could be made from files of a 2004 Canon 20D (8.2 megapixel) at your local big-box store.

    There may be a higher-end APS-C mirrorless announced in late 2020, early 2021 [CR2]

I''ve never shot BIF or wildlife. And have absolutely no interest in ever doing so. My longest lens is an EF 85mm f/1.8. My most used lens is an EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5. I'd be more interested in an RP APS-C than either an R5 or R6 APS-C.

What’s a “realistic” lens that you’d like to see Canon make?

Non-L f/1.8 primes in R mount. 28mm f/1.8, 45mm f/1.8 and 85mm f/1.8. Why sell the RP with only one affordable lens available?

Nifty Fifty and/or a Pancake lens are coming to the RF mount in 2020 [CR3]

I'd like to see slow/lightweight/non-bulky f/1.8-f/2.8 EF R primes available before I buy into the R system. 20mm and 85mm added to the present 35mm f/1.8 would make a good start. I always use flash, Speedlites or studio strobes—so I have non need for f/0.95. f/1.2 or f/1.4. Plus I have no...

Why has Canon omitted 24p 4K recording in their new cameras such as the EOS M6 Mark II, EOS 90D and EOS RP?

Please tell me about your adventures in Hollywood. Maybe we worked at some of the same studios. Twentyfour was strictly to save money. Less film used for Principal Photography as well as on Release Prints. It's all about the budget, art has little to do with it.

Why has Canon omitted 24p 4K recording in their new cameras such as the EOS M6 Mark II, EOS 90D and EOS RP?

Originally movies were shot at 18 frames-per-second—with hand-cranked cameras. Search for persistence of vision—18 fps is where persistence of vision starts to produce smooth results. When sound came along, 24 FPS was adopted because it was the slowest speed for sound projection of optical sound...

Canon officially announces the EOS 90D and EOS M6 Mark II

Hopefully this means that there is an EOS R 1.6-Crop-Camera coming soon. I've used EOS SLRs fro since the film-days—it's about time to get rid of the flippy-mirror and sucky-optical viewfinder.

We’ve received the pricing for the new RF lenses

Three RF zoomz, that IIhave absolooly no interest in gteting. When will the RF 85mm f/1.2L USM DS prime arrive, and at what price?

Canon EOS 90D promotional video appears to have leaked

Very interesting—but I'd prefer a R-Crop. Even if I have to wait another year.

An APS-C sensor equipped EOS R camera mentioned again [CR1]

A RP is 3,888 x 2,592 pixels in crop mode, which is 10.08 megapixels. Slightly smaller than the 10.1 megapixels of my 40D. I could use my EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5, with the EF-RF adapter, on a FF RP. But I preffer a crop camera. If Canon made an RP-Crop, I'd be first in line to order one. If not...

Canon officially announces the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS STM

I didn't realize that there was a rule against requesting stuff*, I'd like to see, in the future. I'm sorry that this stuff* offended you! Different strokes for different folks, and all that stuff*. Stuff* is a place holder for another word that starts with "S." Have a nice day

Canon officially announces the RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS STM

Nikon has released the NIKKOR Z 50mm f/1.8 S Lens ($596.95 at B&H). I'd pay $596.95 for a Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM, long before I buy a 24-240 f/4-6.3 kit zoom for $0.02. A Canon RF 85mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM would also be a good addition.

Patent: Tiny Canon 100-400mm lens and camera

Spying is nothing new to Canon. In the late 1980s we barrowed a small Canon video camera for a motorcycle mount shot. The camera had previously been used by an alphabet-agency (CIA, FBI, NSA). Spying is what they do.
