Re: EF 24-70 f/4L IS & EF 35 f/2 IS We won't have a choice by the time they discontinue the 24-105 and replace it with a much more expensive version of the lens... either take the new lens or stomach the 24-70 f/4L.

Had a chance to play with both cameras at a local camera show last week. I must say that both works pretty well, but my female coworker did mention that the G15 fits her hands better than the G1X. But then, G1X has the better advantage in low light... Well, I think either should work fine.

The only logical argument I could think of is to use this lens to replace the 24-105 f4L as the kit lens for future FF cameras. By doing so, Canon will be able to introduce a possible 24-120 f4L which it can categorize as a non-kit lens, giving it perfect excuse to jack up the starting...

Having the latest technology is great. But is there anything wrong with the 5D2 and 1D4? If not, might as well save up the money and wait for the next generation of bodies. The ones you have still hold their ground at this point in time.

Seems quite self-defeating that Canon goes all the way to merge the 1D/1Ds split into the 1DX, and now have another high resolution model, which effectively restarts the product lines. OK, let me take that back. Maybe they actually decided to adopt the Nikon approach - D1, D1H, D1X....

Who knows? Maybe the two lenses to be announced with it might be specifically designed to maximize the performance of the 46.1 MP sensor. :P

You probably want to cover the wide end first. The 16-35mm is a good choice when it comes to group picture at weddings. Also, the lens's versatility is useful for landscape shots.

I'd wager we see a new version of the 100-400mm before that (here's one lens from the last century). Of course, if they do upgrade the 24-105mm, Canon has to do something about the ERR01 problem...

I'm sure Canon will reap their reward from boyfriends/husbands buying the EOS-M for their loved ones. It's a good way to bribe them and freeing up more funds....
