100D/SL1 Discontinued already??

Has the 100D/SL1 been discontinued already 11 months after release?

At the moment its current status is discontinued on digital rev. Has the 1200D replaced it?

Canon SL1 has more advanced features, better display, better LCD, etc, and was not replaced by T5. If SL1 is discontinued, one SL2 should be arriving soon.

DR is usually a good source tho as they have most kit in very quickly after release and get rid of it as its about to be discontinued. Being nearly 12 months you would expect an upgrade from an entry level camera but usually there is a hint there will be a new one. Thats maybe what the second DSLR announcement will be later on in the year.

Canon will be still trying to sell the last of the batch whereas DR might not be able to get anymore therefore discontinued.

This is the second time in the last week or so that I've seen people point out that Digitalrev puts the "discontinued" label on things. As far as I'm concerned it's more likely to be a labelling or translation error than anything.

DR is usually a good source tho as they have most kit in very quickly after release and get rid of it as its about to be discontinued...

But, because they have no idea when a product is actually going to be replaced, they just have to guess based on past performance.

DR Stock Tracker: "We are down to our last 1,500 SL1s, should we reorder another 10,000 units?"

DR Buyer: "No, it's been out awhile, let's wait until our supply is gone before reordering and see if they've replaced it by then."

Canon still had this camera displayed on its stand at The Photography Show in England I doubt its about to be replaced just yet.

It might be in the same cycle as the txi. So every year or is incrementally improved... but the sl1 is a very nice crop camera in a small package.

Is it selling? Have sales slowed? It is being discounted and that's usually an end of life sign.
For this one, the fat lady isn't singing - but she is warming up!

On amazon UK to top selling DSLR is the 1100D. Number 2 is the 600D. You can clearly see that the top sales are price led. The 100D (SL1) is down at 49 which I find really surprising to be quite honest.

Its more a case of digitalrev being unable/willing to stock items I'd guess and wanting to give the impression nobody else will stock them either rather than losing business.

Just because a particular store decides to stop selling a model does NOT mean that the manufacturer is going to stop making them.
