More and more clients are asking for 360 degrees videos they can put on Google Earth etc.

What experience do you have with this, what are you using and do you have any recommendations please?

Thanks.

Technically, Google Earth does not use videos, more pictures stitched. You can search the technique the link below.
Thanks, ajfotofilmagem. You are right, but I was hoping for a rather simple way to do it.

https://www.google.com/maps/streetview/publish/

It is all rather straight forward, and there are cameras that are supposed to do it out of the box.

expat, are you looking for something like this?

https://360fly.com/

I have also seen an adapter that you mounted on a GoPro (or similar), which would capture 360 degree view onto the normal camera, and then you'd use the associated software to remap the captured video to "normal looking video".

A quick google led me to this http://www.amazon.com/Kogeto-360-Degree-Panoramic-Accessory-iPhone/dp/B005NFIOK0 but it's not the one I recall.

Search for 'panoramic video' and a bunch of links will show up for various products.

Thanks, kaihp. I will take a look at it later - am still on the first coffee of the day!

Funny that after I posted this thread both Samsung and LG announce 360-degree cameras at MWC in Spain. Seems to be becoming more popular, and they definitely make it easier than using a DSRL to do it!

There was a forum post here years back about a group who took stitched panos with dSLR to form ultra high resolution photos of large cities atop tall buildings. I think they used GigaPan to mount the camera.

+1

To add to that, where do you guys host your 360 Panos? I've tried uploading my virtual tour to Google Drive and Amazon AWS S3 and my upload speeds are abysmal at best. I rarely get above 40kb per second at work and at home, it rarely goes above 20kb per second. My virtual tour contains 14 360 Panos and the total size for all of the files combined is 408MB. Does anyone know a work around?
