Beautiful shots as always, Alan! What focal length and f-stop did you use to get that perfect amount of depth-of-field?Various shots of a Marbled White to show its upper and lower wings.
Thanks. 3m distance, 500mm, f/5.6. I would stop down to f/11 if I needed more dof for these. I use the same lens for birds and beetles.Beautiful shots as always, Alan! What focal length and f-stop did you use to get that perfect amount of depth-of-field?
The element Cobalt is derived from the German Kobold = evil spirit. Amusing?Soem I could gest yesterday.
Top-down: female brimstone, marbled white, peacock.
Somehow I like the German names (here translated) more:
brimstone = lemon butterfly
marbled white = chessboard
Interesting! I've learned that the name "Cobalt" was because it was worthless to the old miners, although it looked like silver, so a bad joke from a "Kobold".The element Cobalt is derived from the German Kobold = evil spirit. Amusing?
