One of the reasons I like the 24-105L - it goes to 105/

Cow and calf in Nettle Dale near Millington, Yorkshire Wolds, England.

Beautiful picture Sporgon, the only problem I have with the 24-105 is that @ f8 the 50mm 1.8 II is sharper, I like it for group shots since the only wide lens I currently have - other than this one - is the 14mm on FF, but since discovering the poor performance at f8 I plan on using the 50mm for panos.

You can't compare a zoom to a prime lens such as a 50mm. Anyway, the main strength of 24-105 isn't in sharpness but in versatility. It's not super sharp but it's enough to produce some of my best photos due to versatility. Most of the time, I go out with it if I'm with my family so that I don't have to change lenses every time.

you are right, however I am comparing it @ f8, where L lenses at least should be sharp enough, and beautiful photos btw :)
