Excellent very sharp moon shot - thanks for posting.
Taken with the 1.4x or 2x TC or both together?
Is there enough detail in the image to enlarge/crop further - to show some crater detail?
Would one get the same detail with same lens but with say a 550D?

Although about the same weight as the 600/4 and the 800/5.6 the extra f stop and shorter length of the 400/2.8 should make it easier to handle than the other two behomoths!!!!

The 400 f/2.8 is about the same to handle as the 600 f/4, although the extra focal legth makes it more difficult to hand hold it steady

Biggest problem with the 600 f/4 is that the minimum focus distance is a bit on the long side, whereas the 400 focuses much closer

Here is a handheld photo of a polecat

This will be an advert - the wording will be in the blank space on the right. The brief was to get the cakes etc focussed and the rest soft focussed.

Look at the reflections in the teapot to find me and the 3 flash :D

#14 Welder's Glass. In my eye protection...

1/2000, f16, A-priority -3 Exposure compensation. ND Filter? That's for artsy waterfalls and guys who don't own welder's goggles.

1 D Mark IV, 400mm f2.8IS, 2X Extender III, Tripod + Ball Head + Wimberly side kick. And 25th floor apartment balcony for slighter higher vantage point.

Re: Canon 400 f/2.8 IS

I had a chance to shoot pro surfing. Was pretty fun. i had the biggest lens on the beach, including the press, untill a guy showed up with a 600m f4. But I had a 1.4X and 2X extender, so i like to think i still won.
