I want 24 thousand dollars worth of glass.

I'd be more than happy to sell you a piece of glass for $24,000. I'll even include a certificate of authenticity for free.

Just wait a moment while I dig that broken beer bottle I found in the alley out of the recycle bin....

I'll take one of each ;)

But you have to get dedicated transportation too. Just saw a guy at the local zoo with a study tripod and an extremely long tele lens, he was using a trolley because you cannot lift this exquipment all at once :p ...

I guess he was using full frame and didn't like teleconverters, because what he was shooting was about 5-10m away. But impressive look all the same, maybe just a little overkill for the occasion.

Any chance they'll kit this with the next Rebel?

Absolutely. We all should just keep complaining about these lenses, and when Canon's CEO reads this forum they'll adjust the price accordingly. Same with the 5d3. Well, not yet really, but we'll see :p

This thread may turn into a legendary one.
On a serious note now...

Bah! Only f/4? That's waaaay too slow. I'd pay $13k for a 600 f/1.4, but not for a 600 f/4....

I don't think that a 600/1.4 lens is physically possible

Oh, it's no problem. Well, a bit of an engineering challenge, but that's all.

It's only when you get to a 600 f/1.2 that the gravitational field is enough to form a black hole -- and, even then, only with a gripped 5-series or a 1-series.

Cheers,
